The Newark Municipal Council has approved a comprehensive public safety initiative focused on community policing and violence prevention.
The initiative includes funding for additional community patrol officers, expanded youth programs, and partnerships with local organizations focused on violence interruption.
"Safety is a community effort," said Council President Luis Quintana. "This initiative brings together law enforcement, community leaders, and residents to build a safer Newark."
The program will be implemented over the next 18 months.
